Getting XFMR Lab and URD
on your devices.
Right this very moment the only way to bulk-purchase is through Apple’s App Store, and no discount is possible there. Google dropped bulk purchasing outright. So I’m building an Enterprise version of my apps that lets companies and schools buy licenses from me directly. Both paths are below.
Buy through Apple Business
If your organization manages its iPads or iPhones, you can buy XFMR Lab and URD in bulk today through Apps and Books in Apple Business (the program formerly called Apple Business Manager). Same app your linemen already know, at the App Store price, on one invoice from Apple. Apple sets that price and does not let me discount it.
- One purchase order for as many seats as you need
- Your IT team assigns licenses to devices and reassigns them when people move on
- Nothing to set up with me. No codes, no accounts, no admin on my side
- Needs Apple Business and an MDM. Most utilities that issue iPads already have both
- In Apple Business, open Apps and Books and search XFMR Lab or Underground Residential Distribution.
- Enter the number of licenses and pay with your organization’s payment method.
- Assign the licenses to devices or users through your MDM.
Apple handles billing and receipts. If your admin has not done this before: Apple’s guide to buying content ↗
Seat licenses on invoice
The Play Store and the App Store both loosened their grip this year on how I’m allowed to distribute and monetize my apps. That opened the door to an Enterprise version: you buy a number of licenses from me directly, and I send you that many access codes.
How it works. Your people download the Enterprise version of the app (free to download) and redeem a code on each device. That unlocks the full app. No student accounts, no personal data collected, no MDM, no IT project. Unredeemed codes roll over to the next class.
It covers everything Apple’s channel does not:
- Students or linemen on their own phones, no device management involved
- Android devices, or a mixed fleet
- Shops without Apple Business
- Programs that want a PO and a net-30 invoice from me, not Apple
Two kinds of license.
- Perpetual. You buy one copy, you own one copy forever. Best for power companies loading the app on company-owned, crew-held devices.
- Annual. Full access for one year. Best for apprenticeship programs, with codes per class and rollover for the seats you don’t use.
Bulk pricing by volume, quoted through the form below. One instructor seat comes with every 50 student seats; extra instructor seats, and single-instructor classes, are priced separately.
Read this before you order. Any device with the Enterprise version installed can redeem an access code. Keeping your codes secure is up to you: treat the code sheet like the keys to the truck.
Coming for instructors: Live class sessions: assign a bank to the whole room, watch every student’s wiring and score on one board in real time, and see who has a hand up. Founding programs in the 2026 to 2027 school year get priority input and preferred pricing.

Questions I get
Apple sets one price through Apps and Books. Seat licenses are priced separately and include rollover and activation reporting. At 20 seats a lifetime seat lands about where retail does, and it drops with volume. Instructor seats are a separate line, one included per 50 student seats.
Yes. Any device with XFMR Lab Enterprise installed can redeem a code. Your IT redeems on the devices and keeps the code-to-device list. Same price as personal-device seats.
Nothing personal, and almost nothing at all, by design. Codes are tracked by seat, not by name. During an instructor-led session, students type a nickname that is discarded when the session ends.
Yes to both. Net 30 on invoice. New customers pay a 50 percent deposit before codes are issued.
